Job Description

  • This is a part-time postion, about 10-20 hours per week.
  • The worship director’s primary function is to direct the Church into the worship of God. The focus of the worship director is to facilitate and lead the congregation in the participation of worship through the use of music, exhortation, and the reading of scripture.
  • The Worship director works with the other staff members and the Elders of Grace Covenant Church to ensure that every aspect of corporate worship is grounded in correct theology, authentic in passion, and flows from a response to the grace of God. All worship is to point us towards Christ and the Gospel of grace.
  • Serves as the principal overseer and provider of music ministry for all worship services.
  • In consultation with the Senior Pastor and the Board of Elders, selects members to serve on the worship team.
  • Pursues musical excellence for each Worship Service and ensures worship team readiness.
  • Holds worship team practice as necessary.
  • Pastors the worship team through mentoring, discipleship, and prayer.
  • Selects songs for worship services, working with the Senior Pastor, selecting songs relevant and consistent with the rest of the worship service.
  • Develops and operates within an annual budget for the ministry.
  • Ensures that necessary equipment and supplies are maintained and purchased as needed.


  • High School Diploma or equivalent with 5 years of work experience in worship ministry OR a related college degree with two years’ experience in worship ministry.
  • Must be willing and able to become a member of the church in good standing.
  • Must be able to meet the biblical qualifications of an elder according to 1 Timothy 3:1-7.
  • We are looking for a music director who has a pastoral, servant heart for the people he leads and for the people of the church.
  • We are looking for someone who is seeking to lead the congregation in worship more than a performer. Musical excellence is needed, but we long for someone who is committed to worship, not putting on a show.
